Compatibility Note: This battery is only compatible with the MacBook Pro 15 inch laptop models listed on the bottom of this page, including models made between 2009 and Early 2011. Apple made two different generations of 15" MacBook Pros in Early 2011 which take different batteries. You can check the battery itself and the part number printed on the battery should match 661-5211.

To further complicate things, if the model printed on the bottom of the laptop is A1286, there are two different batteries that use the same model number. If your battery snaps into place, this is not the correct battery. This battery is only compatible with the internal battery in MacBook Pros. To replace this battery you need unscrew the bottom of the laptop to access the battery. We include the required tools and instructions to remove and replace your original MacBook Pro 15" battery.
